instead i'll point out why i stopped reading LRC:
Don't mention 1984 or Brave New World, government schools outlawed them long ago. You know how they hate competition. The snarky, absurd, inaccurate assessment is practically shilling for government by demonstrating how irrational libertarians appear when making sweeping, unsubstantiated observations. Similar to the 9/11 truth movement, modern libertarianism is being destroyed by absolutely insane shill (or shill-like) voices who make the rational folks appear ridiculous-by-association to the rest of the world.
I was personally exposed to both of those in public school and rationalized that it was similar to the current Bush administration. they aren't doing anything different than any other regime throughout history, with the exception of flaunting their ridiculous behavior through gestures like the Patriot Act, etc. just to show how unlimited their power is. similarly, Orwell and Huxley were included included in the curriculum so that the few kids who recognized they were being oppressed could enjoy the irony that everyone else was given a chance at freedom and didn't want to take it.

I wrote my AP English thesis on Brave New World at my public high school, and I know others who did 1984, and this was post 9/11.
